Effective partnership between home and
school is essential if learning is to be successful and
rewarding. We pride ourselves on the closeness of our
communication with parents. All students are issued
with a Planner. This is a document, serving a purpose far more
important than merely a diary for the regularly time-tabled
Homework. It is also a vital means of direct home-school
communication, which encourages the partnership we actively
seek. We expect parents to be party to their child’s learning,
to read and respond to Planner entries made by members of staff,
and inform us of relevant issues and concerns.
Tadcaster Grammar School issues one Report annually to each
student, but also operates several monitoring systems, to chart
the progression of individuals (within each academic year).
There
are various Parents’ Evenings, for each Year Group, during the
year, held in the Main Hall. Individual appointments are managed
by the school administration system to maximise convenience and
efficiency, and consultations promote our intention to share the
learning process with parents.
Our pastoral system encourages all parents to contact us to
discuss any matter of concern. The Tutor should be the first
point of contact, but each Head of Year will be informed and
appointments for mutually convenient meetings may be made.
Please do not hesitate to contact us.
We believe pastoral care and individual attention to be one
of Tadcaster Grammar School’s major strengths. Parents are
always informed of forthcoming events, changes of policy or
routine, and numerous other pieces of information that
collectively make our school the happy and vibrant establishment
we all enjoy.
Our flourishing Parents’ Association is widely representative
of all areas of the school, and organises many activities and
events. We are most appreciative of their ongoing support.
"The school has a very good
productive ethos where student behaviour and attitude to work is
a strength and contributes successfully to high standards”
